This amulet is a replica of the archaeological find from Uppland, Sweden from the Vendel Period. It is believed to be Odin due to the horned helmet which is is typical for the representation of him and is found in various representations of the Vendel and Viking periods. The horns might either be a headdress as shown in the "Torslunda Plates" used ceremonially to lead berserkers into battle. Or the horns could be representative of Odin's Ravens Huginn and Muninn. The original is kept at the Swedish History Museum in Stockholm, but now you can own one just like it! This statuette is much smaller than the others at less than 2 inches(4cm) so it is better suited as a pendant or keeping in your pocket for good luck!

Statues/Idols in the Viking age were a very important part of the spiritual beliefs. Although archaeologists have not found more than a handful of them, we find countless examples of these in the old written sources being used for decoration, worship, rituals and other spiritual purposes. The belief was not simply that the statue was an image of the god or hero. Instead, as almost all other primitive cultures, the belief was that if done correctly, some of the energy of the gods may be attracted to or even reside in these statues or idols.
