This statuette is a replica of the archaeological find from Lejre, Denmark. It is dated to the Viking age and believed to be a depiction of Odin sitting on his throne. If you look closely, you will see his 2 ravens Huginn and Muninn and 2 wolves Freki and Geri. This is one of ONLY 2 still existing figurines of Odin. The original is currently being kept at the National Museum of Denmark. This statuette is much smaller than the others at less than 1 inch(2.5cm) so it is better suited as a pendant or keeping in your pocket for good luck!
Statues/Idols in the Viking age were a very important part of the spiritual beliefs. Although archaeologists have not found more than a handful of them, we find countless examples of these in the old written sources being used for decoration, worship, rituals and other spiritual purposes. The belief was not simply that the statue was an image of the god or hero. Instead, as almost all other primitive cultures, the belief was that if done correctly, some of the energy of the gods may be attracted to or even reside in these statues or idols.
